The organisation oversees twice as many people and seven times the territory of the EU. And it has to contend with autocratic leaders and armed terror groups. Those challenges now fall in the lap of Moussa Faki Mahamet, Chad's former foreign minister and new chairman of the AU Commission. He says development and security will top his agenda. But can the AU achieve its goal of uniting Africa?
