in today's video, I'll show how to create tree wind animation in 3ds Max on any tree model using no plugin whatsoever, and stick till the end to see how you can actually save this animation to an external file in order to get more options to tweak and manipulate it.
Video BreakDown:
identifying 3 major movements from reference footage:
small and rapid leaf movement
medium branch swings
major trunk bending
in 3ds max:
import the model and optimizing it for viewport animation & memory saving
small leaf movement - select leaf ID and adding noise level 1 - rapid movement in all directions.
medium branch - add edit poly, enable soft selection up to trunk, add noise level2 - bigger scale, major up downswings.
major trunk (optional) - add edit poly, no sub-selection, add bend, and keyframes bending side to side along the timeline.
-saving the animation to point cache file.
-duplicating the movements to another tree.
