Ingredients and Directions for Shepherd's Pie:
General Information:

Ingredients (US-Units):
Mashed potatoes:
Potatoes: 1.3 pounds
Milk: 6.7 fl. oz.
Butter: 1.5 oz.
Salt: 1 tea spoon
Nutmeg: 1 tea spoon
Minced lamb-meat:
Minced lamb-meat: 3.3 pounds
Sunflower oil: 3 TBSP
Onions: 2
Peas and carrots: 1 can
Rosemary branches: 2
Garlic cloves: 3
Pepper: 1 TBSP
Salt: 1 TBSP
Tomato paste: 2 TBSP
Lamb-stock: 6.7 fl. oz.
Worcestershire sauce: 3 TBSP
Gouda cheese: 3.5 oz.
Ingredients (Rest of the World – Units):
Mashed potatoes:
Potatoes: 600 g
Milk: 200 ml
Butter: 40 g
Salt: 1 tea spoon
Nutmeg: 1 tea spoon
Minced lamb-meat:
Minced lamb-meat: 1,5 kg
Sunflower oil: 3 TBSP
Onions: 2
Peas and carrots: 1 can
Rosemary branches: 2
Garlic cloves: 3
Pepper: 1 TBSP
Salt: 1 TBSP
Tomato paste: 2 TBSP
Lamb-stock: 200 ml
Worcestershire sauce: 3 TBSP
Gouda cheese: 100 g
Preparation of food:
Mashed potatoes
1. Cook the potatoes, peel them and press them into a bowl with a potato-press.
2. Add milk and butter and mix it into a creamy puree.
3. Spice with salt and nutmeg.
Minced lamb-meat-mix
1. Peel onions and dice them.
2. Peel garlic and cut into fine pieces.
3. Let carrots and peas dry.
4. Start cooking the minced meat in hot sunflower oil until the liquid has reduced.
5. Add onions and garlic.
6. Put some rosemary leaves below and spice it with salt and pepper.
7. Mix in the tomato paste.
8. Deglaze with the Worcestershire sauce.
9. Infuse it with the lamb-fond and let it reduce the liquids for around 10 minutes – until almost no liquid is left in the pot.
10. Add the peas and carrots.
Shepherd’s Pie:
1. Add the mix in a fire-proof pan and spread the mashed potatoes over the surface.
2. Grind the cheese over the mashed potatoes and places some butter flakes on top.
3. Bake for around 20 minutes at 180-200° Celsius (350 to 390 degrees Fahrenheit) until the cheese turns golden-brown.
