After decades of violent conflict, political instability, and exploitation the Democratic Republic of the Congo has become one of the world’s poorest countries. With challenges like Ebola and mineral extraction in the eastern region the DRC faces an uphill battle. Fortunately, it’s also home to some of the most incredible people I’ve had the opportunity to meet. One of these people, Fredy, invited me to travel to the Congo with United for the Future to produce a documentary short about the medical clinic they are building the capital city of Kinshasa.
United for the Future is a faith-based non profit in Fresno, CA that partners with schools and churches to connect students with mentors. They are also building a medical clinic in the city where Fredy grew up. They have secured a location, started construction, have equipment donated, and staff lined up. The are waiting for the final funds to finish construction and meet a very significant need.
