観亀稲荷神社は祇園東界隈の氏神さま。小さなお社ですが昔から「かんきさん」と呼ばれ親しまれています。
その本祭の前夜には宵宮祭が行われ、特設ビアカウンターで芸妓さんや舞妓さんとビールやソフトドリンクで会話を楽しめたり、ゲームコーナーがあったり。境内にはお茶席も設けられます。
また、特設舞台で舞妓さんの舞や、祇園篠笛クラブの演奏が行われ、祇園風情を味わえる楽しいお祭りです。祭に先立ち演奏隊と舞妓さんのパレードが祇園の花街を練り歩きました。
Kanki Inari Shrine is the guardian deity of the Gion Higashi neighborhood. Although it is a small shrine, it has long been affectionately known as "Kankisan."
The Yoimiya Festival is held on the night before the main festival, where you can enjoy conversation with geisha and maiko over beer or soft drinks at a special beer counter, and there is also a games corner. A tea ceremony is also held within the shrine grounds.
In addition, maiko dance on a special stage and performances by the Gion Shinobue Club are held, making it a fun festival where you can experience the atmosphere of Gion. Prior to the festival, a parade of musicians and maiko paraded through the Gion entertainment district.
