Описание: Come experience the 2024 Island Bay Festival Parade! Starting on Avon Street, lets enjoy going down The Parade (the main road in Island Bay) down to Shorland Park, near Island Bay Beach. After the Parade reaches Shorland Park, the Island Bay Festival opening ceremony takes place, followed by live performances, music, extra facilities for the kids to have fun, and stalls where you can buy gifts or food. Note this year the Bird Man & Blessing Of The Boats were cancelled due to a large front causing strong southerlies (cold winds from Antarctica). Showcasing talent and diversity of the south coast, Island Bay is the first Wellington suburban annual festival held during the summer month of February each year (Summer months for Australia & New Zealand are December, January and February).

Island Bay is the largest most populated southern-most suburb of both Wellington, and the North Island of New Zealand, with a population of approximately 8,000 residents. Island Bay is located on the southern coastal fringe of Wellington (the capital, and second largest city of New Zealand). Its not too far from Wellington City, but far enough to escape most of the hustle & bustle of city life. Island Bay is an outer suburb of Wellington, located in Zone 3 of the Metlink public transport network, next to Cook Strait (sea separating the North Island & South Island of New Zealand).
