This Flathead Fought HARD! Parramatta River Fishing

With the wind down, I started off at an easy to access spot on the Parramatta River and it was clear that there was plenty of chopper tailor tearing up the place. The bream were non-existent and aside from the tailor, there were also hordes of small whiting roaming the shallow flat sections.

The boat ramp's pontoon looked really good and I had a quick flick between the gaps in the sections. I had plenty of bites but hookups were the sticking point. After getting my line bitten off a few times to either big flathead or tailor, it was time to move around the corner to another bay.

Here, I found success fishing near a sandy beach session where the fish of the day came in the form of a 50cm flathead. It fought tooth and nail for it's freedom! It was hard not to feel excited in not knowing whether I would or wouldn't be able to land the fish before it severed my line due to the extended fight! Easily the best flathead hook up I've had this half of the year thus far!
