In August, the Department of Telecommunications came out with rules for lawful interception under the Telecommunications Act of 2023. As per the rules, the government can notify law enforcement agencies to intercept messages between two parties. While the rules are largely similar to the Interception Rules under the Telegraph Act, 1951, there are a few key differences.
