If you’ve seen some of my other videos you know I have a lot of raised beds, almost 2 dozen on the terraces that make up the bulk of my garden.

I recently added 3 metal beds made by Vegega, an 8ft and 2 6ft, and so here’s my review.

I had to get the locations prepared first.

I wanted to instal the 8ft bed in the spot where I used to have several large compost bins. The soil in this location is exceptional, and so I decided to just mound it up as best as I could and build the bed around the mound.

Next it was time to open the box and start assembling the bed.

When you open up the box, you will find the instructions, the parts of the bed, along with the hardware, the tool to tighten the hardware. There is also a length of black protective rubber edging that is used to cover the top edge of the metal.

There is a piece of protective film on each of the panels, so it takes a couple minutes the peel all those off.

…and then it’s just tightening bolts

At one point I thought I would be clever and use my cordless drill to tighten the bolts, but honestly that’s much harder than just tightening the nut onto the bolt, because the bolt tends to snug down pretty quickly. So after a few times using the drill, I just did it the way the instructions say….and it was much faster.

By the time I moved onto the two 6 footers, I was in the swing of things, and it went even quicker.

So here’s how I feel about my experience:

The shipping was quick, and the packing was sturdy, everything arrived in perfect condition.
The instructions were straightforward and easy to follow.
There weren’t any missing parts.
…an added bonus the color I selected ended up being the EXACT same color as my house, so that was great.
Really, minus the dirt and plants…everything you need is in the box.

I should mention that I customized my beds to have animal protection (mainly deer) using aluminum pieces from an old greenhouse that I had laying around. So that’s what I used to make that protective cover.

So I have a very positive impression of these beds, in fact…don’t tell my wife but I’m trying to figure out more places to put them.
