Pesticides are a major contributor to declines in pollinators and other invertebrates. Unfortunately, our towns and cities are not immune -- plants, soil, and waterways are often contaminated with these chemicals, both from applications in yards and parks and from hidden movement from far-off sources. How can we best address this risk to the bees, butterflies, and other insects that live in our urban green spaces? In this talk, join Aaron Anderson from Xerces' pesticide team to learn about a recent Xerces study investigating pesticide residues on butterfly host plants in two cities. We'll discuss our results, why the choices we make in our residential landscapes matter, and ideas to protect residential pollinator habitat from pesticides.
