In this video is a condensed version of feeding and water changes. I'm not great at videos yet so I hope it is useful. You can get a general idea of my feeding portions and containers that I have had success with. I'm sure folks are out there that have even better ideas. If you have a few hundred of these little guys you can expect to spend a good portion of your day doing this. You cannot miss a single day and you cannot take a day off. Finding a babysitter for them that provide the right care is harder than finding California Blackworms for a fair price right now.

You'll spend time harvesting food, preparing brine shrimp eggs and procuring black worms is really hard right now. You can raise Daphnia cultures and you can also inadvertently crash them and so therefore its important to have multiple cultures of everything and that takes up even more time.

Raising Axolotls isn't an easy thing, so please, think about it long and hard about it. This is a solid commitment and huge undertaking.

However if you are determined to raise them and you love these little guys you'll find joy in watching them grow into adults and form a close bond with them. Then of course its not easy to re-home them and you want to send them to the best homes they can possibly go to.

You don't want to hear that they died because of bad husbandry after you have taken such good care of them.

My best advice I can give is to be ready for all stages of their development ahead of time. Think all the way to adulthood and have the room and containment that you will need ahead of time. Start your cultures before hand and get good at keeping cultures alive. It can get really expensive to keep starting over, not to mention you could starve these guys to death.

It takes a while to get a blackworm culture to thrive and build up enough to feed a huge clutch daily. Daphnia is much easier but I like to offer variety. I'd recommend double redundancy. Start your microworms and start new brine shrimp daily with two ready in advance. Sometimes they crash too for me but I always have 2 going and add a new one everyday and harvest it after two days, you can slow your brine by cooler temperatures of speed them up in warmer temperatures. I always rotate them, I'll start them cooler and finish them in my tropical aquarium.

Keep a journal and make notes on the cultures and babies.
