If your child is starting treatment and getting a port, this is what a routine lab draw can look like.
My son’s double port made frequent bloodwork and medication administration possible without repeated IV pokes.
We would put numbing cream over the port for about an hour before any pokes and put press n seal around it so it wouldn't rub off.
He had the double port for about 3.5 years undergoing treatment for T-Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Sharing to reduce fear and normalize the process for families walking this road and for educational purposes.
He is almost 18 now and healthy and doing well.
