Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look and installing the Curt trailer hitch on a 2022 Honda CR-V. Now, this is what the trailer hitch is going to look like when it's actually installed. And the great thing about this is the hidden cross tube. Now, if that doesn't mean anything to you, that means that the metal part of the main part of the hitch, when it attaches to the vehicle, is actually hidden in the rear bumper, so the only thing that's gonna be hanging down is gonna be the receiver of the actual hitch. So, it gives you a nice clean look, yet you still have the usability of the hitch.

Now, this hitch is gonna be a great option. And the fact that it is a two-inch by two-inch, that means it's really gonna open up the window of all the different accessories that you can load up. Two-inch by two-inch is pretty standard for your bike racks, cargo carriers or even your ball mounts. Now, when it comes to those accessories, you're gonna have a 5/8 hitch pin hole. Now, the hitch does not come with a pin and clip.

But a lot of your accessories, when you pick them up, will actually have these included. And if you wanted to step it up to a locking option, we actually have those available at etrailer. And that way, when you have your accessories loaded up, you can lock those in place and know that they're not gonna walk away in the hands of someone else. Now, if you do plan on towing, you're going to see a rolled-style safety chain loop here, so it's gonna be real easy to hook up your standard-style hooks as well as your larger clevis-style. Now, when it comes to towing, you're gonna wanna know the capacities that the hitch is capable of.

And this one's rated decently at 3,500 pounds. And that's gonna be your gross trailer weight rating, which is the weight of the trailer itself and the accessories loaded up. Now, it also has a tongue weight rating of 525 pounds. And that's gonna be the downward pressure that's actually put on the inside of the receiver tube opening. Now, you cannot use this with weight distribution.

And before you actually hook up and tow, you're gonna wanna check the vehicle's owner's manual to actually see what the vehicle is capable of. And you're gonna wanna take that number, compare it with what the hitch is capable of, take the lower of the two numbers just to stay safe. Now, we're gonna get some quick measurements here. And the first measurement's gonna be from the center of the hitch pin opening to the furthest point of the rear fascia, it's gonna be right at about two inches. And that's important to note for some of your folding accessories, that way, they don't make contact with your rear fascia. This one, I don't worry too much. But that is something you wanna look at when choosing your accessories. Now, we're also gonna be checking our ground clearance here. So, from the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground, we're looking at about 13 1/2 inches. And I don't really worry about the hitch making contact with the ground. But when you have your suspended accessories on here, like your cargo carriers, your bike racks, as you go uphills or incline, sometimes you can actually have those bottom out, so something to keep in mind when driving. Now, if you are still interested in a hitch, that's awesome. It's going to really open up what you can do with your vehicle as far as towing or just having a little bit more real estate to store things on your vehicle. But sometimes, the installation portion can scare you off. But not to worry, I'm gonna be walking you through all of the steps to get this installed. And really, this isn't too bad to do in your driveway or garage. So, follow me and we'll get this hitch installed. Our installation is gonna begin by lowering our exhaust down by removing the rubber isolators from the hangers. Now, before we do that, we're gonna wanna support the exhaust. That way, it's not actually hanging down. It can cause damage further down the line. So, what I'll do to actually support it is I'm just using a cam buckle strap here and I'm just gonna go across my suspension. And that way, it's just gonna kinda hold it up and kinda create a cradle for it. Now, if you are doing this in your garage or on your driveway, you can actually use just maybe a block of wood or something. You just don't want this hanging down by itself. So, just a little precautionary before we get these popped off. Now, as far as getting
