Tekken 2 is a fighting game, the second entry in the Tekken series. It was released in arcades in June 1995 and for the PlayStation in 1996. There are ten playable characters in the game's arcade version and up to twenty-five fighters, including eight new ones in the console version. The home version also introduced new, now-staple game modes to the series. Tekken 2 was a critical as well as commercial success, becoming one of the most successful video games of 1996 with about 40,000 arcade units and 5.7 million PlayStation copies sold worldwide. It was followed by Tekken 3 in March 1997.
