The focus kind of falls off at the corners, and it's prone to flares. But none of that is the point. Because that's not why you use a vintage lens.

When you're shooting with a lens like this you want to ask yourself only one question:

For me, using this lens feels like I'm doing something right. It feels like I'm going back to the basics of photography, and getting in touch with the reasons for why I picked up a camera in the first place.

Everything about this lens is minimal, from its build quality to its specifications. It's slow in comparison to my other primes. Most primes in my collection are at least 1.4 or at the very least 2.8, but the industar's aperture is barely noticeable, at a humbling 3.5

That being said I have to crank the ISO a  bit, which teams to lend itself to the texture that this lens produces in its images. It reminds me of the days of film when we shot with heavy grain, and can definitely lend itself to a photographer's nostalgia for black and white or even sepia tone.
