In this episode of the Excavating Drama series, we explore African-American Theatre History in the early nineteenth century. Specifically, we'll examine the story of the first Black theatre company in the United States: the African Company. But we'll also have to do some historiography by interrogating how often the African Company is overlooked in the history of American Theatre.
