January 1st - It may sound cold and miserable, but historically, it's quite pleasant in North Carolina on New Year's Day. Take advantage of the start of the new year and get outside on a trail. Whether it's a short walk or a bigger adventure, there are plenty of trails in The Great Trails State.
North Carolina's Year of the Trail movement for 2023 is led by the Great Trails State Coalition, a group of over 50 organizations working to build more opportunities for hiking, biking, walking, running, paddling, and horseback riding across the state through increased awareness, legislative action, education, and engagement.
Throughout the year, there will be entertaining and educational media and content focusing on communities and individuals right here in North Carolina. Additionally, there will be events across the state and plenty of ways to get out and get involved!
