Japanese newspaper... Sankei Shimbun has refused to take down one of its columns... that likened President Park Geun－hye to a Korean empress who was killed by Japanese assassins.
The conservative daily came under fire for making such a comparison in its Monday edition.
While criticizing President Park′s decision to attend China′s Victory Day parade，... Sankei mentioned that Korea′s Joseon Dynasty had a female leader just like President Park， referring to Empress Myeongseong from the 19th century.
In response， the Seoul government demanded the paper retract the controversial column... through the Korean Embassy in Tokyo.
But the Japanese daily rejected Korea′s request while expressing concerns over freedom of expression.
