Oyster and contactless pay as you go are not valid on this service due to it running fast from Cambridge to Kings Cross. The last station to accept oyster cards on the ECML is Potters Bar while Welwyn Garden City was the last station to accept contactless pay as you go (but not oyster) at the time. On 14th December 2025 contactless pay as you go (but not oyster) was extended to Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth and Baldock. Only 2 short platforms on this route; Watlington and Littleport, both of which are front 4 coaches.
Unfortunately the automated announcements in coach 1 were not working so I moved to coach 2. The recording I edited in at the start of the video was recorded back in March 2025 when I last went to Kings Lynn.
