Sanicole Airshow F-4E Phantom II Hellenic Air Force Display

Описание: Although the Hellenic Air Force does not have an official Phantom display team, but sure enough the legends of Sanicole secured a nice flying display of the legendary McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II!

The F-4E Phantom II, also known as the "Rhino", "Flying Brick" or "Double Ugly" is a true Cold War icon and one of the most recognizable fighter jets in aviation history. Entering service with Greece in 1974, the Phantom became a cornerstone of the HAF’s air defense and strike capabilities for decades. With its two GE J-79-17 engines, powerful radar, and distinctive silhouette, the F-4E combined speed and versatility, serving as both an interceptor and a ground-attack aircraft.

The aircraft is operated by 338 Squadron “Ares,” based at Andravida Air Base in the western Peloponnese. Known as one of Greece’s dedicated fighter-bomber squadrons, 338 Mira has flown the F-4E since its introduction into service and has a long tradition of strike and air-defense missions. Today, the squadron continues to represent the last active Phantoms in Europe, carrying the legacy of an aircraft that has served Greece faithfully for more than five decades.

The display itself did not have special display items, just flyby's as well as some strategic maneuvers, but that is all that we could wish for! They promised a flyby and they gave us a full Spooky show! Phantoms Phorever!
