COMMON OR GARDEN? Is life ever ordinary?

Описание: On my wall I have this slogan from The Story People; "Time stands still best in moments that look suspiciously like ordinary life." It seems to me that life is never "common or garden" or even "bog standard" - any time you blink you could miss what the Incredible String Band referred to as "This moment".
The dry, hot weather of 2025 in England has produced garden displays like never before - and possibly never again. Gardens are things which we as people can only partly control. There are many random elements but also partially hidden trends - pests, the interaction of plants and soil conditions, and the biggest pest of all, climate change.
This piece of music was written a while ago but it's taken that time to find the right combination of things to make it burst into bloom. The magic ingredient for me is a set of drumloops which I prepared with tempo modulation - the rhythm is hesitant and just slightly unhinged. They push this sax/guitar duet into unfamiliar territory. The rich tenor sax improvisation is by Ian Ellis.
Guitar, bass, loops and electronics by me. The film has garden pictures with slightly surreal effects to match the surreal elements of the recording.
