This step by step how to tutorial is about 12x10 gable roof plans. This plan features a simple pavilion that you can add to the house to cover the front porch. The gable roof goes against the house siding, therefore you need to seal the joint area with flashing.

This design has the main advantage that it doesn't require to take down or cut into the siding, as the support posts go along the wall. This is a simple pavilion with a gable roof with a 6:12 pitch. Easy to build and cost efficient.
