Just like the script and visuals, Film and Television can lean heavily on its soundtrack. A well constructed score can subtly convey emotion, elevate the story and lead you through the narrative.

And whilst many aspects of music production have moved towards software and in-the-box workflows, soundtracks still often rely on live-recorded string quartets and orchestras - even when the turn-around time is as tight.

When designing his East London studio Shoreditch Recording Works, Dominik's brief was simple - enough space to host 14 musicians. This idea in itself lent the studio a certain flexibility, with the huge control room fitting Dominik's needs as a film composer, as well as offering the space for larger productions and writing sessions.

We sat down with Dominik at Shoreditch Recording Works to discuss his composing work, the design and build of Shoreditch Recording Works and how RME MADI devices became an integral part of the studio, including the new M-1620 Pro AD/DA converter.
