Joshua Tree National Park (boulders, stargazing, and secret ruins!)

Indian Canyons (so many palm trees!)

The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens (we fed giraffes!)

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway (360° rotating ride + sunset views)

Local museums: Palm Springs Air Museum, Cabot’s Pueblo Museum, Hi-Desert Nature, and Palm Springs Art Museum

📍 Detailed Itinerary | 5 Days / 4 Nights Palm Springs Family Trip

📅 Day 1
Arrived at Palm Springs International Airport ✈️
Visited Palm Springs Air Museum
Explored Pioneertown, a western-style town and filming location for many movies
Checked into a rental house near Joshua Tree National Park
Stargazing in the backyard under a clear desert sky

📅 Day 2 – Joshua Tree National Park
Morning (West Entrance):
Hidden Valley Nature Trail (1-mile loop, very kid-friendly)
Barker Dam, Wonderland Ranch Ruins
Cap Rock (short 0.5-mile walk)
Keys View (overlooks the Coachella Valley and Palm Springs)

Afternoon:
Returned to the rental house for lunch and rest

Evening (North Entrance):

Joshua Tree Visitor Center (passport stamps)
Skull Rock
Arch Rock
Stargazing and Milky Way viewing near Arch Rock

📅 Day 3 – Museums & Indian Canyons

Hi-Desert Nature Museum (Yucca Valley)
Cabot’s Pueblo Museum (Desert Hot Springs)
Lunch in Palm Springs
Hotel check-in in Palm Springs

Afternoon:
Indian Canyons
Andreas Canyon Trail (easy 1-mile loop, great for kids)
Palm Canyon (large palm oasis with streams and scenic viewpoints)

📅 Day 4 – Zoo & Aerial Tramway

Morning:
The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens
Giraffe feeding experience
Desert gardens with cactus, palms, and desert plants
Bighorn sheep feeding
Walk-through kangaroo area

Afternoon & Evening:
Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
(Early in-person ticket purchase)

4:30 PM ride for daytime views, sunset, and night city lights

Mount San Jacinto State Park
Short hikes
Sunset and nighttime views over Palm Springs

Hotel check-out
