This video could be useful for someone new to programming PIC microcontrollers in assembly language using the MPLAB X IDE.
I'm using the pic16f84a microcontroller as that's the device specified by EDUQAS/WJEC GCE A level Electronics, but there are plenty of other (better) devices with similar architectures and instruction sets to choose from.
Rather than jump straight into coding I highlight the differences between assembler directives (instructions for the assembler to follow) and instructions executed on the PIC device itself. I also show where to find some very useful information including the header file (p16f84a.inc), PIC datasheet and MPASM user guide. I found these documents to be essential references to develop my knowledge of programming this device.
