Golden Freddy began as a secret animatronic from the game Five Nights at Freddy’s. It would appear directly in the player’s office after seeing a poster on the wall change, and would only disappear if the player flipped their camera up and down. It would also cause visual hallucinations of animatronic faces and the phrase “IT’S ME” while active. It can also be encountered by changing the custom night menu to read “1987,” resulting in an immediate jumpscare. When scared by Golden Freddy, the game instantly closes. Golden Freddy’s history in game is a big mystery, but it is widely agreed that they were one of the original animatronics of Freddy’s, originally named Fredbear. Fredbear was decommissioned after an incident in 1983 where a child’s head was inserted into its jaws while it was performing, resulting in a crushed frontal lobe and eventual death for the child. It’s presented as the first domino that sparked a chain of events in the Five Nights lore, including the start of serial killer William Afton’s murder spree. One of the murder victims of William was (presumably) a child named Cassidy, whose ghost went on to haunt the yellow bear. The mascot suit continues to have a ghostly presence in the franchise.
Gold Magnet is a plant in Plants vs. Zombies that’s purchasable for $3000 in-game dollars in the shop. To use it, plant one over an existing Magnet-Shroom and it will replace the plant. Instead of Magnet-Shroom’s ability to grab metallic armor from zombies, such as screen doors or buckets, Gold Magnet instead automatically picks up money that occasionally drops from dead zombies or the Marigold plant. The player isn’t unable to pick up money themselves, mind you. This plant just does it automatically. It offers no defensive advantage to the tower defense gameplay of PvZ, unlike other plants purchasable from the shop such as Gatling-Pea, Cob Cannon, or Cattail. But sometimes, it’s ok to just exist and collect money. That’s what I think.
