Drywall Over Drywall - The Lost Files
The walls in the school were covered with carpet, using carpet adhesive. We had to rip off the old wall carpet, ripping the drywall paper underneath. This left a messy situation, we had a couple options here. First off we could have skim coated the walls with joint compound. Second, we could have removed the old chair rail, drywall, and replaced it. Leaving a bad butt joint in the middle of the wall. The third option was to laminate over the existing drywall. Using 1/4'' drywall we attached right to the face of the old drywall.
