Learn about how to manage both flaccidity and spasticity in the post stroke hand so that you can work towards regaining function.
Join Gillian Coetsee who, acknowledging that neuro hands are difficult to treat, explains how to reduce secondary complications and encourage function so as to get the best possible results. She shows the importance of a team approach which includes the development of personalised functional goals. She demonstrates how to use various treatment techniques, such as splinting and TES/NMES, and provides ideas for low resource settings.
Our second presenter, Tamryn Turner, shares a number of practical ways in which to retrain functional movement. She explains how to use the Brunnstrom Stages and neurodevelopmental techniques using practical videos and activity ideas. She gives examples of how we can focus on function, and shows the importance of repetition for functional retraining.
