After completing her training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai, Rekha Singh, the wife of Galwan Valley hero Naik Deepak Singh, was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army on Saturday. In a significant move towards expanding women's role in the armed forces, the Indian Army inducted its first batch of 'Five Women Officers' into the Regiment of Artillery, including Lt Mehak Saini, Lt Sakshi Dubey, Lt Aditi Yadav, Lt Pious Mudgil, and Lieutenant Rekha Singh. Along with 36 other women and 121 men who completed their course at OTA Chennai, Rekha Singh has been posted to a frontline base along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.
