Abstract:
In an X-ray binary system, the central compact object, neutron star (NS) or black hole(BH), accretes matters from the companions. The matter orbits at very high velocities near the compact object, introducing a few milliseconds dynamical time-scales. X-ray emissions from this matter provides direct way to probe the strong gravity field near compact objects. In this talk, I will give a brief introduction to X-ray binary systems and the related spectral-timing-polarimetric studies involved in the new generation of X-ray observatories, and further how those results help us better understand the inner flow geometry of BHB systems.
