These buildings date back to the 1300's, although the Castle is now in ruins the Chapel that used to sit outside the walls and the gate house still stand and are in remarkable condition maintaining some of their original features.
The house being recorded as oldest in the whole region!! It was "Le Portail" meaning gate house and still has its original arches (one no longer open) that would have been the main access to the castle and guarded.
