If you like a movie or TV show, it's okay to rewatch it several times unless you get the whole meaning or unless you learn all the phrases. I watched "Sex and the City" 7 times. First time, I was just excited about the plot. Second, I was excited about New York. Third, I was trying to catch phrases that the main characters said. That's the thing, you don't need to understand and memorize everything the first time you watch a movie or TV show. If you understand 70% of things that go on in the movie, then it's okay to watch it.

When you are watching a film in English, it is a good idea to turn the subtitles on. If you really like a movie, perhaps try watching it once with subtitles and then again without. Avoid subtitles in your own language.

You can talk to a character in your mind because this allows you to use phrases that actors use in the movie, you can copy their manners, vocabulary, accent and body language.

It's really important that you choose the right movie that matches your current English level. For example, for beginners in English, it is recommended to learn English through animations.
