The Canadian Jam knot is simple to tie and has so many uses in survival and bushcraft. One awesome way is the use as a snare. Procuring protein could make the difference in surviving and thriving or starving and dying. The Jam knot is very similar to the Poacher's snare and much simpler to tie. I have found that the jam knot sets much faster.
I have watched many videos on primitive or survival trapping and snaring that never mention the most important questions - Where and how to set them? I included a basic tutorial on setting the snare, height of the snare, how to channel the animal and some other tips.
I do not condone the useless killing of animals. The information provided is meant for use in a starvation scenario. Most primitive traps and snares that are not made of cable, are illegal in many areas. Check with local trapping laws.
In a survival situation, please be responsible and remove any set snares before you move to a new location. Not only can you reuse them again, it is the right thing to do.
