With its crystal clear waters and a fortress city located in Kotor, you can get many of the same features of Croatia on a smaller (and less populated) scale. The Bay of Kotor is also a Mediterranean fjord ⛰️

Things to enjoy about Montenegro (outside of the scenery)
a long and fascinating history with various empires throughout time
the Euro is their standard currency even though they are not officially part of the EU Schengen zone
they love cats 😻

The day trips include:
🚐 a bus tour with guide for historical information
🚤 a boat to Our Lady of the Rocks
⛪️ a tour of the Our Lady do the Rocks church
🏰 a brief walking tour of the Kotor old town, followed by exploration time

** if you take a day trip:
use the restroom at the gas station after customs (and grab snacks). This is the only official break you’ll have until lunch
pack a lunch! Your designated lunch time is AFTER the Kotor walking tour (around 230 depending on your tour start time)
if you don’t pack a lunch grab a slice of pizza rather than go to a restaurant. There’s only a small window of time to explore, don’t waste it being hangry!
the boat ride is very short, even on a windy day you shouldn’t have any issues (and I get motion sickness)
during peak season, check if you can find which days do not have cruise ships to have a less crowded experience
