In 1986, AVIA Communications launched its integrated marketing communications campaign "The Beauty of the Philippines - Shining Through" via television spot placements in PAL's key overseas markets. This was supported by an intensive print ad campaign as well as posters, brochures and other point of purchase materials in travel agencies, Philippine embassies and consulates and other channels. The beauty of the campaign could also be seen in the awards it reaped both locally and internationally. It was a finalist in the TV advertising and jingle category of the CLIO Awards, considered the 'Oscars' of the advertising industry.
