Over 5 000 meters above sea level, the Border Roads Organisation is building the world's high-altitude twin-tube tunnel - the Shinkun La tunnel.
Stretching 4.1 kilometers, it connects Ladakh and Zanskar, securing year-round connectivity and strengthening India’s border infrastructure.
The high altitude creates tough conditions that place strict demands on equipment. Epiroc’s Boomer face drill rigs are built to handle these challenges, delivering proven performance and long-term reliability.
For more than two decades, the Boomer L2 D has been central to tunnelling projects across India. Now, with significant upgrades, Epiroc launches the successor - the Boomer L20.
With a completely new boom design, the Boomer L20 offers greater boom rigidity, improved visibility and better control. The updated design also includes optimized hose routing for extended service life, lowering the Total Cost of Ownership.
