The UK sole representative visa is available to British citizens only - i.e. people who have a right of residence in the UK or have become a resident of the UK by virtue of being admitted as a Permanent Resideman or as a British National. Once you meet the above conditions, you are entitled to apply for an indefinite leave to remain, or an indefinite leave to settle, either in the UK or in an EU member state. You must then join the UK Immigration Law Society, which will ensure that your visa application is approved without any errors or delays.


To qualify for the UK sole representative or tier 1 visa, you will have to demonstrate three main elements. The first of these is that you are permanently settled in the UK or a UK dependent state. A dependent state is any state of UK resident which is not the dependent state of another person. This means that if you are married, you will be classed as a UK resident couple rather than merely a husband and wife. The second requirement is that you must have UK citizenship.


The third requirement is that your intended business must be registered within the UK, either directly with the authorities at the High Commission or through a subsidiary. If your intended business is a company, your business must be registered with Companies House in England and Wales. If your intended business is not a company, it will be necessary to register it at the Trade Registry, which is an undertaking managed by the UK branch of the International Trade Federation. The remaining requirement is that your business must have a permanent address in the UK or one of its constituent parts. It may be that this requirement will be waived for business visitors coming on holiday.


There are several types of UK sole representative visa allows. The first is the extended UK limited company relief, which has no restrictions whatsoever on the number of members of the company that may be allowed to join. This will include directors, officers, and employees of the company.
