When an Area the Size of Rhode Island Collapsed; The Markagunt Megaslide

Описание: Approximately 23 million years ago in Utah, one of the largest landslides to ever occur in the history of the planet occurred. During this event, 480 cubic miles or 2,000 cubic kilometers of rock dramatically collapsed to the south in a massive megaslide. This spread a thick layer of rock over an area the size of Rhode Island, and generated an unusual rock type called pseudotachylyte. So, why did this megaslide occur? This video will answer this question and discuss other very closeby megaslides.
