In this edition Karl Raacke gives us a walk around of the 2018 Airstream Interstate 3500 EXT. Based on a Mercedes Benz chassis and finished by Airstream, this Class B van is the best motor coach you can get.

The Airstream Interstate Lounge EXT has almost every option added to the Mercedes chassis with Bi-Xenon headlights, parking sensors and road going safety systems. For those looking at traveling off road there is a 4-wheel drive option to help conquer any terrain and for even greater ride comfort the Interstate can be equipped with VB Air Suspension.

Karl brings us down the side of the coach pointing out some features like the armless power awning, LED porch light and electrical outlets. These features and more make being outside the motorhome just as enjoyable as being inside, and if you want to let the outside in you can do that too! Both the sliding and rear doors have screens built in so you can take in the ocean breeze while relaxing on your California King size bed.

From the drivers seat you can see that all of your controls are easy to reach and the dash is simple to read. With your speedometer, tachometer and fuel gauges right up front you can use the digital display to check through your other menus thanks to the buttons on the left of the steering wheel. The right hand buttons control your Bluetooth calls, volume and radio volume. The entertainment system works smoothly and effortlessly with full touch controls while the climate controls are just below within easy reach.

Swinging through to the living area of the Interstate you get to see what the Lounge floor plan has to offer. You get another pair of seats behind the front ones for guests to join you, and being able to swivel the front chairs around means you can enjoy a drink on the pedestal table while having a great conversation. That second row also has a great view of the front TV so passengers can watch a movie on your way to your destination. Headed down the galley you see there is quite a bit of counter space in a small area thanks to the folding covers of both the cooktop and sink. Accompanying the large countertop are massive overhead storage bins that run down both sides and has an extra deep bin in the rear. Across from the galley kitchen is the wet bath which is surprisingly spacious with all the normal amenities and even a dispenser for soap, shampoo and conditioner.

Karl then scoots back to show the rear seats and couch. The seats on both sides have seat belts to help bring more company with you while doubling as part of the California King bed. No need to struggle with putting the couch down as it goes with the push of a button.
