Locking through Melton Hill dam early in the morning gave us an entire day to get as far up the Clinch as we could, around 35 to 40 miles. Returning down stream on the following day, we anchored out a pleasant and quiet cove just above Melton Hill dam where we would be set to make the two day downstream run to the mouth of the Hiwassee.
