Welcome to my terrible, no good, very bad day. This bad day is another installment of my ultimate summer adventure vanlife road trip, and it covers my drive back to BC. After my trip to Saskatchewan, I camped out at the Old Man River in Fort Macleod Alberta for a couple of days, then I decided to head back to BC. This is where this episode picks up. I head out from Fort Macleod on the historic Crowsnest highway, where I make my first stop in Coleman Alberta to play some disc golf. The Crows Flight Disc Golf Course was a 9 hole course that I found on UDisc, and it featured rolling hills and some forest. I'm not good at disc golf, so I found it a little challenging because of the elevation changes. While I was there, I flew my drone for the second to last time, and also highlighted the free towel I got at the "Clean, Drain, Dry" boat inspection site. I thought it was important to tell people to do their part to keep invasive species out of BC.
Eventually I got back on the road and drove through the Crowsnest Pass, and eventually 180 kilometers to my camping spot for the night. Before then I drove though Some towns like Sparwood, Fernie, and Elko. I wanted to spend more time here, but the weather wasn't good and I'm closing in on my date to hike the Rockwall Trail, so I kept going. I eventually pulled into a camping spot that I stayed at last year, one that I found iOverlander. This is a nice riverside spot that's perfect for free night of vanlife. Well it's perfect except for the human poop that I found and drove over. Seriously people, do better!
After a little bit of chilling by the river, I was eventually forced inside the van due to bugs. At this point, I made the most involved meal in my van that I've ever cooked in the back of my van. I made perogies fried with Mennonite sausage, green peppers and onions. It was delicious, and even though it was tight in the van, it worked out alright. Then I went to bed.
The next morning is where it really went bad. I drove to the closest rest stop to do my business and to make breakfast. I had cereal, then put my drone in the air to get some footage, and then promptly crashed my drone into a tree. The tree was 150 feet tall, and my done got stuck at the top and never came down. I fruitlessly tried to throw rocks to get it free, but ultimately there's was nothing to but move on. That's a Mavic Mini 2 that I'm never going to see again. Damn.
Even though I was butthurt over my lost drone, I hiked to the source of the Columbia River to ease my pain. While I was there I watched the sunset and spoke some motivational words, and that was the perfect was to end my terrible, no good, very bad day.

Don't let bad days keep you down for long. Life is in front of you, not behind you, so you just have to keep moving.
Have a good day!
