一見、よく見るような何の変哲もない椎形の鉄兜。
しかし、この兜の真価はその鉢の裏側にあるのです。

内側に一ケ所残る鉄板を貼り付けた補修痕。
それを目にしたときに、社長の深海の脳裏に一つの記憶が点る。

兜愛好者であれば誰もは目を通すであろう、名著『戦国変り兜』のとある一節―

慶長の朝鮮の役の様子を記した『朝鮮記』（寛文三年自序）に、大河内秀元が、
　 椎形ノ甲ノ手辺ヲウケハリ際マテ六寸ハカリ
切り破られたことがみえ、（『戦国変り兜』文中ママ）

―椎形の兜？
―手辺（天辺）をウケハリ（受け張）際？

まさか！？

At first glance, this appears to be nothing more than an ordinary, unremarkable cone-shaped iron helmet. However, the true value of this helmet lies on the reverse side of its bowl.
On the inside, there remains a single repair mark where an iron plate was attached. When President Fukami laid eyes on this, a memory sparked in the depths of his mind.

A passage from the renowned work "Sengoku Kawari Kabuto" (Variant Helmets of the Warring States Period), which any helmet enthusiast would surely have read—

In the "Chosen-ki" (Korean Records, self-preface from Kanbun 3), which records the events of the Korean campaigns during the Keicho era, it states that Okochi Hidemoto had his:

"cone-shaped helmet cut through approximately six sun (about 18cm) from the crown area to the reinforced edge" (quoted as written in "Sengoku Kawari Kabuto")

—A cone-shaped helmet?
—The crown area to the reinforced edge?

Could it be!?
