As of January 2023, there were 11 million job openings in the United States. A key but overlooked potential for filling these openings is older workers. This session explores older or experienced workers, their numbers in the workplace, the characteristics that make them a good bet for employers, and what the future looks like for experienced workers. Presenter Antoine Hicks, Director of Workforce Training at The Center for Workforce Inclusion, shares data and information to use in approaching employers and preparing older workers for the longevity economy. The session looks at how American Job Centers and workforce development boards have worked with employers and with older workers to keep or return them to the workforce.
