Описание: The Misa Criolla was composed by Ariel Ramirez in 1963 as a work for soloists, chorus and orchestra accompanied by instruments typical of the Latin American populations.
Each element of the Misa denotes an extreme originality, thanks to the perfect combination of religious themes and folk elements: the Kyrie opens the mass with the rhythms of the vidala and the baguala, two expressive forms representative of the traditional Argentine Creole music; the Gloria is accompanied by the Argentine dance of the carnavalito, marked by the notes of the charango; the Creed instead, is marked by the Andean rhythm of the chacarera trunca; the Carnaval de Cochahamba, typical of the Bolivian tradition, surrounds the Sanctus, while finally, the Agnus Dei concludes the Mass on the style of the Argentine Pampa.
The selection of clips from the film Que viva Mexico by Ejsenstejn was almost forced. Even if the film, which reached us in the final draft only in the seventies, wants to tell a sort of process of liberation of the Mexican people, in reality it is a reflection on life and death, which is well harmonized with the spirit of the Creole Mass , which breaks free from the Catholic liturgy expressed by the texts through the recovery of Latin American popular music that sinks many of its reasons into pre-Columbian civilization.
