👉🏻 શ્રીમદ્ સત્સંગી જીવનના 4થા પ્રકરણના 17મા અધ્યાય માં પૂ.સદ્ ગુરૂ શતાનંદ સ્વામી એ શાકોત્સવનું અદ્દભુદ વર્ણન કર્યું છે. શાકોત્સવ કરવાનું કારણ હતુ સુરાખાચરના ઘરે ચોર લોકો ચોરી કરવા આવિયા પણ સફળ ના થયા અને તે ધન ને સુરાખાચરે ભગવાન ને સંતો, ભક્તો માટે જ વાપરવા વિચાર કર્યો. તે સમયે મહારાજ લોયા માં બિરાજતા હતા તે ત્યાં સુરાખાચર મહારાજ ને કોઈ ઉત્સવ કરવાની વિનંતી કરી, અને તે જ સમયે એક ભક્ત સભામાં આવિયા અને મહારાજને ઘણા તાજા રિગંણા અપીયા. તેથી શ્રીજી મહારાજે લોયા માં સર્વ પ્રથમવાર સંવત્ 1877 ના મહાસુદ 7 ના દિવસે શાકોત્સવ કરવા નિર્ણય કરીયો, કારણ આ મહિના દરમિયાન બીજો કોઈ તહેવાર ન હતો તેથી સુરાખાચરે મહારાજને વિનંતી કરી શાકોત્સવને માધ્યમ બનાવો, જેથી બધા ભક્તો સાથે મળીને ઉજવણી કરી શકે. ભગવાન સ્વામિનારાયણે 360 કિલો ઘી માં 1200 કિલો રિંગણા નો વઘાર પોતે જાતે કરી હળદી, મરચું, તજ વગેરે નાખીને રિંગણનુ શાક બનાવ્યુ અને તેમાં તેમના કપડાં પણ હળદર વગેરે મસાલા વાળા થાય તેની પરવા કર્યા વગર શાક બનાવીને સંતો-ભક્તોને એક માસ સુધી પોતે પિરસી જમાડીને સુખ આપીને ઉત્સવ કર્યો હતો જેમાં જેને જે જમવાની રૂચી હોય તેવા સ્વાદની અનુભુતિ થાતી હતી. જે સંપ્રદાયમાં આજે શાકોત્સવ તરીકે પ્રસિદ્ધ છે. આ લીલા ને જોઈ પૂ. સદ્ ગુરૂ પ્રેમાનંદ સ્વામી એ "વળી વખાણું શાકોત્સવ લીલા કરી" જેવા શાકોત્સવ ના કીર્તન ની રચના કરી હતી.
👉🏻 In the 17th chapter of Shrimad Satsangi Jeevan 4 Volume, Pujya Sadguru Shatanand Swami has given a divine description of Shakotsav, the cooking festival. The reason for holding Shakotsav was that when thieves came to Surakhachar's house & did not succeed in stealing the wealth, Surakhachar decided to use that wealth only for saints and devotees. While Maharaj was sitting in Loya at that time, Surakhachar requested Maharaj to hold a festival there, and at the same time, a devotee came to the Sabha and offered Maharaj many fresh eggplant (Ringna). So, Shriji Maharaj decided to hold Shakotsav for the very first time in Loya on the day of Maha sud 7 of Samvat 1877, as there was no other festival during this month, so Surakhachar requested Maharaj to make Shakotsav festival a platform so that all devotees could celebrate together. Lord Swaminarayan himself added 1200 kg of eggplant in 360 kg of ghee and made eggplant curry (Ringna nu Shak) by adding turmeric, chili, cinnamon, etc. He didn't even care when his clothes got stained by turmeric & spices in the process of making the curry. Celebrating the Utsav for one whole month, daily he himself spent time cooking the curry and feeding the Santos and Haribhaktos, showering happiness over everyone. Even though it was single eggplant curry, each person could experience it as a custom made dish with whatever they desired to eat. This divine event is well known in the Swaminarayan Sampraday as Shakotsav Festival. Seeing this Pujya Premanand Swami composed the kirtan of Shakotsav like "Vali Vakhanu Shakotsav Lila Kari ''.
