Commentator is Antero Mertaranta, he is also national hero, he became famous also in Czech Rebublic in 2008 when he commentaded Barbora Spotakova's Olympic Gold throw.
Jarkko Koski-Vähälä (born 21 November 1978) is a former Finnish javelin thrower who currently works as a certified massage therapist in Ylivieska.
Sports career: As an athlete, he achieved his greatest successes in the early 2000s:
Personal record: 84.12 meters, thrown in 2005.
Achievements: He won the javelin carnival in Pihtipudas in 2011 with a throw of 81.53 meters.
He also achieved third place in the European Cup in 2003 and the Kaleva Games in 2005.
Club: He represented the Ylivieskan Kuula club from 2008.
Current activities (2026):
After his active sports career, Koski-Vähälä retrained:
Massage practice: He runs the massage therapy business Koulutettu Hieroja Jarkko Koski-Vähälä Ky in Ylivieska.
The practice is still active as of early 2026.
Sports organization: He is involved in organizing local sporting events, such as the "Koski-Vähälän Karjasut" in Ylivieska.
Other sports: He is also active in cross-country skiing, where he competed in the district championships in the veteran category (M40) in 2023.
194 cm (6'4") tall and weighs approximately 93 kg (205 lbs).
