In this episode, we travel back to the golden age of the Vijayanagara Empire and witness the story of Hampi’s magnificent Vittala Temple through the eyes of its chief architect.
The Vittala Temple, dedicated to Lord Vitthala (a form of Lord Krishna), is one of the greatest architectural wonders of ancient India. Famous for its iconic Stone Chariot and its mysterious Musical Pillars, this temple reveals how devotion, mathematics, acoustics, and engineering were perfectly blended more than 500 years ago.
This story also explores the tragic fall of Hampi after the Battle of Talikota in 1565, when a coalition of Deccan Sultanates defeated the Vijayanagara Empire and reduced one of the richest cities on Earth to ruins.
