Join us on a scenic road trip as we explore the legendary Mayon Volcano on our way back to Manila after an unforgettable adventure at Biri Rock Formations. We had a late boarding on the Ferry at Port Allen and had no choice but to board a sleeper ship. From there we drove to Sorsogon late at night even with a slight drizzle. That was an adventure on itself - driving Sorsogon's zig zagged roadways in the middle of the night. Luckily we found a nice hotel to spend the night.

Early morning we started driving to our destination with the main purpose of seeing the grandeur of the Majestic Mayon Volcano. We started driving along the AH26 Maharlika Highway, and made our first stop at the historic Cagsawa Ruins, a solemn reminder of Mayon’s powerful eruption in 1814. Although the volcano remained shy behind the clouds, that didn’t stop us from making the most of our journey.

We indulged in local Bicolano delicacies like the rich and spicy Bicol Express and the beloved pili nuts, adding flavor to the day’s adventure. One of the highlights was our ATV ride experience, which took us on a thrilling off-road path closer to the slopes of Mayon. Pro tip. Book your reservation ahead of time to avoid the sell hustle at the gate.

Eager to catch a better glimpse of the volcano, we detoured and drove around Albay, eventually reaching SkyView in Tabaco City—a stunning spot with panoramic views, even if partially veiled by clouds. Despite Mayon’s elusive nature that day, the trip was filled with culture, fun, and unforgettable roadside discoveries.
