Описание: The Ryman Setter is one of the most celebrated bloodlines of the English Setter breed. Starting with George Ryman it was passed along to Geroge Bird Evans and then to the author of The Real Ryman Setter - Walt Lesser.

With over 50 years of experience breeding and hunting with the Ryman Setter as well as hunting Ruffed Grouse and the American Woodcock is at an iconic status. Walter Lesser is well versed in everything from training the Ryman Setter to the history of the breed dating back to the 1800’s. His first Ryman Setter was acquired from Geroge Bird Evans in 1958 after a chance introduction from a landlord that was friends with the legendary upland bird figure.

As a retired wildlife management biologist for the state of West Virginia for 42 years, he influenced important conservation projects for the Ruffed Grouse, American Woodcock and many other species over his long career. Many projects occurring in the legendary Canaan Valley of West Virginia. His knowledge of natural history in the area is one of the most well versed in modern times. Walter Lesser is a legend of upland culture and wildlife conservation.

This inspiring short film presented by the Ruffed Grouse Society and the Cabela’s Outdoor Fund takes us from his first Woodcock in Long Island, NY over a Beagle to his days afield with the legendary George Bird Evans. A humble man that takes a glimpse into a time gone by. Filmed in the famous location referred to by George Bird Evans as “The Gates” in the Canaan Valley of West Virginia. Walt Lesser currently resides in the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia.

This film was shot during the Ruffed Grouse Society Camp Tour and #HealthyForests Campaign in 2016 to help promote active timber management of forests throughout the country to create balanced forest health for future generations. Project Upland continues efforts to help promote conservation to preserve our natural resources and oldest human traditions.
