As the assembly elections in five states - Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram - drew to a close, pollsters find themselves at odds, particularly in the Hindi heartland. With all eyes now eagerly awaiting the results on counting day, the political landscape remains uncertain and charged with anticipation.

For the PM Modi and Amit Shah marched a platoon of BJP union ministers and MPs into the breach. Some of the BJP central commanders have been made to contest the elections from their Lok Sabha bastions and others have been called upon to rally the cadre at organisational level. Exit poll projections seem to suggest the tactic may have paid off.
But this purported semi-final is much more than just about building tactical momentum ahead of the big one in 2024.

The Congress is hoping to make big gains while maintaining its domains. Any loss to BJP will prove to be detrimental to Rahul Gandhi and the INDIA Alliance.
